Slacker is designed to deliver personalized radio to everyone, it combines the knowledge of the nation’s leading music experts from every genre and your own personal tastes to create perfect radio stations for each and every listener. Slacker loves music, and you’ll hear the difference that it makes in every Slacker station. Slacker Radio is much more than a playlist creating computer that chooses songs that are similar to each other. Their expert DJs hand-pick songs based on their extensive knowledge and their music library is larger by millions of songs, so you’ll hear all of your favorites and a ton of new music that we know you’ll love!

We started with one Play:5 speaker in the living room and one Play:5 speaker on the back deck all controlled with the new Sonos dedicated touch screen controller. This combination gives us rich beautiful music both inside and outside the house. It can be synchronized to play the same station, album, or queue in both zones or separated to created different environments for different moods. We were super impressed with the simplicity of the setup, clarity of the sound, and loved that visitors to our house can operate the system wirelessly with their own iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or Android devices.

As great as any sound system may be, it’s the music collection that really makes it shine. Some things we considered were integrating a tuner and cd player with the system; but the setup would be quite kludgey to operate. We also thought about copying all of our music to Network Attached Storage, but we weren’t sure about music licensing and really don’t all that much music in volume or variety. We wanted something better, something that would blow our guests away. We wanted to give our guests the ability to build their very own Harrison Lake House soundtrack to enhance and make their vacation even more memorable than ever.

We were thrilled to find that our Sonos System comes bundled with the ability to reach online music services. Some of the more popular ones that you may have heard of before are Pandora, Spotify, Napster and Rdio. So we signed up for all of them and started listening. Wow. Imagine grabbing the controller, searching for virtually any music that has ever been released and then playing it a few second later in better than CD quality. With over 7,000,000 songs, fantastic audio quality, and (most importantly) full Canadian distribution rights; Rdio was the hands-down winner in our little music competition and quickly installed for everyone to enjoy.

In the month that has passed since we received our Sonos system, we have truly enhanced the entire experience at Harrison Lake House with the sound of music. We have already added a second music controller and have plans to continue growing the system and adding speakers in every room and around the property outside to bring music to wherever you may be while visiting our home.

Harrison Lake is a boaters’ paradise. The lake is 45 miles / 65 kilometers long with several island, and surrounded by majestic mountains. Being glacier fed it can be a little cool at time but does warm up nicely in the summer heat. On calm wind days, the early morning is the best time to enjoy the lake’s glass-like surface as it usually get a bit choppy in the afternoons due to the boat traffic.

Power and non-power boat rentals for Harrison Lake are available from Killer’s Cove Boat Rentals. They are located on the docs in front of the Harrison Hot Springs Resort and have Sports Utility Boats, Bowrider Boats, Pontoon Boats, Pedal Boats, Canoes, Single and Double Kayaks, Windriders and tow tubes and wet suits.Power boats rent from $55 – $160 per hour. Non power boat rentals are $20-40 per hour.

Hicks Lake / Deer Lake

Sasquatch Provincial Park has two lakes to enjoy; Hicks Lake and Deer Lake. Vedder Mountain Rentals has canoe rentals at both location. At their Hick’s Lake location they are open from May-September 10am to dusk. The Deer Lake rentals are open everyday from July 1st until Labour Day and weekends only in the off-season. Canoes rent from $10-15 per hour including all required equipment.

An amazing cabin guest house for rent. Sleeps up to 12 people, is located steps from beach, and only  minutes from Harrison Hot Springs’ resort, hotels, pool, and restaurants.

Easy Steps to Geocaching

1. Get a GPS device or iPhone/Android phone with the application installed
2. Register for a free Basic Membership on Geocaching.com.
3. View the nearby caches located close to Harrison Lake House
4. Choose any geocache from the list and click on its name.
5. Enter the coordinates of the geocache into your GPS Device.
6. Use your GPS device to assist you in finding the hidden geocache.
7. Sign the logbook and return the geocache to its original location.
8. Share your geocaching stories and photos online.
